Insight into the Copper Basin 300 #1

My racing career has taken me all over the country in pursuit of beautiful trails & fearsome competition, and nowhere have I found more of either than at the Copper Basin 300 in Alaska.

I ran the race during its formative ‘early years’, back in the early to mid ’90’s, and some of my fondest memories of competitive mushing come from this awe-inspiring race course—over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a handful of stories from those adventurous days of my youth, as well as analyzing the current crop of racers & cutting edge strategy from the modern-day masters of long distance dog mushing.

Arguably the current ‘top dog’ at the CB300 is Mr. Allen Moore, husband & mushing partner to Aliy Zirkle, perennial contender in the Iditarod (and respected adversary!) and co-owner/operator of SP Kennel in Alaska. Here is a link to their daily blog—I personally think that this is the top mushing oriented blog on the internet—http://spkenneldoglog.blogspot.com/

Also, here is a video interview with Mr. Moore himself—enjoy!

Thanks for tuning in—more to follow….
